Fees & Insurance FAQ
01
How do I pay for my sessions?
Payment for session are due at the time of service. I do billing at the start of the session. You can pay by credit card or e-transfer. E-transfers can be sent to carly_goodfellow@yahoo.ca prior to the start of your session. Credit cards can be added to your Jane account. Just select 'Add a Card' on the left side menu. We can also set up your payment card together in our session.
02
Do you take insurance? How does that work?
The services of a Registered Clinical Counsellor are often covered through most extended medical plans in BC. All extended health plans are different, so to determine if my session fees will be covered, the first thing you should do is to check with them directly. Some questions you can ask them: What are my mental health benefits? Do my benefits cover the services of a Registered Clinical Counsellor? What is the coverage amount per therapy session? How many therapy sessions does my plan cover? Often plans indicate they cover services under 'psychology', 'psychotherapy', 'counselling'. My services will fall under these, however you will need to check directly with them. If the plan indicates a Registered Psychologist or a Registered Social Worker, then my services will not be covered. My designation is Registered Clinical Counsellor.
03
Do you direct bill to my insurance plan?
I do not bill directly to insurance companies. You will need to submit a receipt to them for reimbursement. All fees are due at the time of the session. Once payment is received, I will email you an official receipt for you to submit to your extended medical coverage provider for reimbursement. This receipt will include my registration number with the BCACC.
04
Will my Clinical Hypnotherapy sessions be covered?
If you have coverage for Clinical Counselling services by a Registered Clinical Counsellor, then yes, your hypnotherapy sessions will be covered. Clinical Hypnotherapy falls under Clinical Counselling services. The receipt I provide you will say 'clinical counselling services' regardless of if your session was for hypnotherapy, EMDR, Couples counselling etc.
05
Do you offer reduced fee counselling?
I offer a reduced fee option for Individual Psychotherapy & Clinical Counselling sessions as we as Clinical Hypnotherapy for individuals with financial need. These sessions are 45mins, a slightly reduced session time for a cost of $165. As the standard time for therapy session is 50mins, these sessions provide a good accessible option for regular therapy. This option is based on your financial need and is at your discretion. You can book this session online or contact me with any questions.
06
How do fees get set?
My fees are set in line with the BCACC recommended rates reflective of my clinical experience and training. The BCACC has recommended fee rates for Registered Clinical Counsellors in BC. The rates are based on how many years of practice experience, amount of additional training and level of specialization of the clinician. For an experienced clinician, the fee range is $165 - $250 per 50min session. You can read more here https://bcacc.ca/bcacc-fee-guide-2024/

Hypnotherapy sessions are usually 45mins but I also offer extended sessions and short hypnosis mini sessions for 30mins.
